Hair Loss and Solutions
Hair loss (called as Alopecia in medicine) is the disappearance of hair in the head by being lost in a temporary or permanent manner. Hair loss, which has many types and consequently more than one reason, becomes a serious problem especially after adolescence period.

In order to find a solution to the hair loss problem, the reason of the problem must first be determined.

In respect of men, hair loss is related to 95% male hormone.

In respect of women, the reason of hair loss is different than that of men although male pattern hair loss is in question for women.

There are many reasons such as anemia, menopause and goiter disease.

Now let's review the types and symptoms of the hair loss:

1-Familial: Andro Genetic Alopecia (AGA,), is also called as male pattern hair loss, genetic hair loss, etc. It is the most common type of hair loss in men. Therefore, boys, whose father suffers from hair loss problems, are very risky in this regard, and they should definitely be careful.

2- Allopecia areata: It is colloquially known as pelade. It is a common situation especially in children and adolescents, and it is in the form of regional hair loss. In general, distress, sadness and stress are listed among its reasons. It is not only limited to the hair but also causes bread losses and eyebrow losses.

3-Hair losses due to medicines: Some drugs, used for health problems, also cause hair loss. This is a common condition especially for those who have cancer treatment, and it is usually on temporary basis, and when the use of medicine is discontinued, the hair started to grow again. Not only cancer drugs, but also some acne medications contain risks.

4-Anagen effluvium: The drugs and medications, used for treatment of any diseases, are specified above; however, hair losses caused by diseases are also in question. Diseases such as anemia and goiter are serious reasons for hair loss.

5-Diffuse alopecia: It is diffused on the entire head.

6-Telogen effluvium: It is mostly called as female pattern hair loss.

Male Pattern Hair Loss (Andro Genetic Alopecia [AGA,])

It is the most common type of hair loss; and 95% and %50 of the hair loss observed in men and women, respectively, constitutes male pattern hair loss.

First Symptoms In respect of male pattern hair loss, the loss process does not occur immediately; however, it occurs upon appearance of some symptoms. The first one of such symptoms is the deterioration of hair. Symptoms such as thinning, weakening and loss of gloss in hair tearing, which can be perceived easily, are typical consequences of deterioration of hair. Such symptoms will transform into hair losses. Such losses are usually observed on the Forehead and the Peak Region of the head. There are very rare losses in the sides and back of the head. Because the hair available in the Sides and Back of the head is naturally more protected against genetic losses.

Source of the Problem is DHT: The hair loss is caused by genetics on 95% basis, and it is derived from DHT that is a male hormone. DHT is formed by the addition of Hydrogen to Testosterone, which is the main male hormone. DHT fundamentally damages the hair cells, and causes hair losses in time. DHT is also present in women even in small quantities, as each man has. The losses occur in the certain regions of the head, which are sensitive to DHT, and since the sides and back of the head is not sensitive to DHT, such regions remain healthy in general.

Female Pattern Hair Loss

Contrary to what you know, Women are also inclined to hair loss as much as Men; however, the reasons for hair loss are many more in Women. Many reasons such as age, living environment, hair loss problems suffered by the first degree relatives, diseases and drug treatments applied as a result thereof, Fertility, termination of Fertility etc. cause women to lose their hair.

Since hairlessness (baldness) has become ordinary for men, it is no longer so remarkable. However; in respect of women, such situation is a little different. Since hairlessness (baldness) will be so remarkable in Women, the Women will usually prefer to camouflage their hair with Shawls, Bonnets, Scarves and similar accessories. This, of course, does not change the fact that Women Lose Their Hair.

Reasons for Male Pattern Hair Losses:

Anemia: When the blood rate reduces in the human body, some symptoms arise consequently. One of such symptoms is hair loss, and a large number of the women encounter problems such as anemia (due to iron deficiency). For example, menstruation, which is a female-specific situation, is a healthy case; however, it causes anemia.

You can think of your hair strands as a plant. What happens when you do not water them? They will dry. Because they need water and they live with it. Similarly, humans’ hair follicles are an organ and live with blood.

Stress: Severe stresses to be experienced will cause hair loss.

Birth: Stress, blood loss and hormonal changes occurring during the birth can lead to hair loss.

Pregnancy: It is a severe stress on the female body, and such stress as well as anemia and change in dietary habits caused by pregnancy can lead to hair loss.

Goiter: There are two types of hair loss due to goiter. In case of low hormone (hypothyroidism), the hair deteriorates, loses its brightness, becomes pale, and is lost from its follicles. In case of hormone excess (hyperthyroidism - poisonous goiter), hair loss is not in question, but hair breakage. The hair is thinned and broken due to smaller traumas.

Estrogen deficiency: Estrogen deficiency in women can cause hair loss. The most typical example of this is an increase in hair loss during menopause.

Heavy diet: Strict diet, applied by overweight women, can cause hair loss due to malnutrition.

Incorrect tying: The fact that you tie your hair up tightly may cause permanent hair loss.

Incorrect applications: Frequent dyeing, perm, and use of a comb having thick teeth may damage the hair.

Other Reasons for Hair Loss:

DUPA (unknown)

Chemotherapy for the purpose of cancer treatment

Radiotherapy for the purpose of cancer treatment

Habit spasm (tic) for hair tugging (tractional alopecia)

Traumas
